Miss Maddy

We have been very lucky to have Miss Maddy in the classroom for 2 weeks this term. The children really enjoyed working with her, and were very sad to see her go.

Good luck for the future Miss Maddy!

Swimming Lessons

For the past 2 weeks we have been walking down to the Beenleigh pool for swimming lessons. It has been lots of fun, and the children have already improved their swimming skills during the short time.

Grandparents Day

Thank-you to all the Grandparents who were able to visit our class. We loved showing our Grandparents all the clever things we do in Grade 1.

David Fleay's Wildlife Park

On the 1st of September 1L and 1V went on an excursion to David Fleay's Wildlife Park. We had a busy day looking at all the different types of Australian Animals. Ranger Jess told us lots of interesting information about the animals. We all enjoyed going into the Noturnal house where we saw a platypus swimming. It was very dark inside and we had to be very quiet. We had so much fun on our excursion, but we were very tired by the end of the day.

Old MacDonald's Farm

We have been doing lots of maths investigations with Old MacDonald's Farm.

We needed to investigate how many legs there were in the paddock by using the list of animals.
3 chickens
2 cows
1 sheep
and a budgie named Bob

We could use pictures, blocks, drawings or matchsticks to help solve the problem.

Toy Museum

Last term we celebrated our learning by hosting a Toy Museum. During the term we investigated how different toys move. We designed our own toy, listed the materials needed and created the toy, which we displayed at the Museum. At our Museum we each had a role, some children were Toy Experts, others were Tour Guides, and we also had Guards to keep our Museum safe.
It was great to see so many families come and visit our Toy Museum. Here are some photos from the day.

Sports Carnival

On the 17th of June we participated in the sports carnival. We ran in lots of races, played some ball games, pulled and pulled in tug-of-war and cheered loudly for our teams all day long.

We had lots of fun, but were very tired by the end of the day!!

Toys - Kites

This term we have been looking at different types of toys and how they move. The other week we made kites and flew them down on the oval to see how they fly. We had lots of fun testing them out!
